What is involved?
Introductory courses will be starting in September 2007
The courses will be based in local centres in South Yorkshire
You will explore the history and pre-history of your local area using photographs, pictures, found objects and other materials.
Activities will be practical and designed to develop confidence in using a range of skills including reading, writing and maths.
Each introductory course will involve at least one study visit to a local archaeological site.
The courses are FREE.
You will be given support with childcare and the cost of travel and materials.

How will this develop my skills and confidence?
Archaeologists use lots of different skills to explore, record and understand how humans have affected the places they have lived throughout history.

This course is structured so that everyone taking part can develop skills such as reading, writing and maths, and gain confidence in communication skills and working in groups.

There may be opportunities to work towards a qualification.
