Introducing the WEA staff in the Region
Tutors
Hundreds of skilled, experienced and dedicated part-time tutors represent the WEA's 'public face' in the region. The vast majority work with the WEA on a part-time basis. All WEA tutors work within guidelines about required quality standards for teaching and learning. They are subject to the scrutiny of the Adult Learning Inspectorate and the WEA's internal Observation of Teaching and Learning procedures.
We offer teacher training qualification courses within the region and some of our past students have become excellent tutors. More information about becoming a WEA tutor can be found in the Jobs section of the National WEA website:
WEA Field Staff
WEA Field Staff work with voluntary branches and local communities to manage and support courses in the region. You can find the names of local Field Staff in your area by using the Regional Map link on this page. They represent the WEA within the community networks where they work and also represent those communities within the WEA. As well as their geographical responsibilities, they are all members of curriculum groups with subject specialisms and have responsibilities for specific themes such as mental health, students with learning disabilities, learning support or learning technology. There are four Area Teams of Field Staff across the region, each with a Regional Education Manager. Show me the Management structure.
Other 'front line staff'

We rarely have on-site administrative staff as we are a charity and try to keep overhead costs as low as possible.
The only centres with on-site administrative staff are:
