Self assessment is our own evaluation of our work: how well we engage and support our learners to enjoy their learning and achieve.
It is central to all our work and is a continuous, rather than one off, annual activity. Good self assessment works best by taking an honest, objective and evaluative approach, asking many different people to assess whether the learning experience was a good one and if not why not. Our self assessment report for 2010-11 identifies what we do well (strengths) and areas where we need to improve (weaknesses).
Each year we publish a summary report as well as short reports on our key subject areas. You will always find the current versions of these documents on this web page, below.
Summary self assessment reports for the 2010/11 academic year:
• 2010/11 summary: Achievements and Improvements
• Crafts, Creative Arts and Design
• English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL)
• History
• Information and Communications Technology
• Literacy
• Numeracy
• Personal Development and Well Being
• Teaching and Lecturing

For each area where we think we need to improve, we have actions to address them. These are in our Improvement and Development Plan for 2011-12. All tutors and staff are responsible for ensuring that improvements are made. Progress on the actions in our Improvement and Development Plan is monitored regularly by the WEA Senior Management Team.
