New Website aims to make election candidates accountable

Democracy Club is a new website set up to support democratic involvement by acting as a source of information and guidance on how people can get involved and have their say on matters that are important to them. It is a non-party-political group of volunteers who want to make a difference in the next election by promoting greater transparency from our MPs and PPCs.

The group assists users by contacting them with updates about opportunities for involvement and possible tasks that they can perform.

There is a quick and simple sign up for people interested in having a say and seeing local politicians called to account for issues raised.

This is a great platform for WEA members wishing to get lifelong learning and adult education on the political radar locally in election time.

Democracy Club is looking for volunteers in every constituency and have 99% coverage so far.

The Guardian newspaper review described it as 'ingenious' in its use of technology to ensure 'local citizenship can make itself felt well beyond the parish pump'.
