Welcome to the WEA South West Region. We cover a very large geographical area, stretching from Penzance in the west to Bournemouth in the east and Gloucester to the North of the region.

We pride ourselves in delivering  a wide range of courses not only geographically but also rich variety of types of provision.

Extensive Branch provision which provides a colourful range of subjects from Art History to Egyptology to Politics and Philosophy and much more. As well as offering courses in this area we also have a number of day schools across the region.

Work with groups of disadvantaged and vulnerable students with mental health problems; drug and alcohol addiction and learning disabilities.

Specialist courses in Lip-reading and Makaton

Work with students who do not have English as a first language, focussing on English, Maths and IT skills

Employability, Information & Guidance work.

The Regional Committee meet 3 or 4 times a year. The committee is made up of staff and volunteers, many from our active branch network. Their role is important in helping to ensure the grass roots tradition of the WEA is embedded in our provision.
