Learning with the WEA: what to expect

Good quality adult education

We want you to enjoy your course and, at its conclusion, to feel that you have had a good experience of learning with the WEA. Your tutor will be your main point of contact throughout your course, and will welcome your comments, suggestions and questions.

The WEA, like other adult education providers, is inspected by Ofsted, the organisation that assesses the quality of education provision in this country. You can read our last inspection report.

We are always pleased to receive your comments and views about our courses, directly to your local regional office or through our website feedback form, if you prefer. You can read comments from other WEA students here at: What our students say.

Welcoming, friendly and respectful

We are committed to providing a welcoming environment where everyone is respected and valued, and can feel safe and secure. If you feel that you or other learners are unsafe for any reason at all, including discrimination, abuse, harassment or bullying, speak to your tutor or a member of staff from your local regional office.

Safeguarding contacts

If you need to talk to someone about a situation in a WEA class, and do not feel you can talk to your tutor, you can contact your local WEA safeguarding contact. You can also get in touch with the WEA's main safeguarding contact who is David Webber, WEA Director of Finance and Resources. (Tel: 020 7426 3450. Email: dwebber@wea.org.uk.)

WEA and learner policies

During the course, we have a Learner Code of Conduct to enable everyone to get the most out of learning with the WEA. It is based around our policies and should be displayed in your classroom. All our policies regarding our responsibilities to you, as well as what we ask of our learners and students, are listed in the policies section on this site. Our enrolment forms and our online course booking service provide the main information you need.

If you are using computers, you will also be given a Student Computer Use Policy that sets out a code of conduct for using computers on WEA courses.
