The WEA is a charity, with a single body of Trustees which is responsible for all aspects of governance. The WEA's twelve trustees are collectively and individually responsible for the management of the WEA's assets and resources at all levels. The WEA's Trustee body is made up of:

• Three representatives from the WEA's Regions in England.
• One representative from WEA Scotland.

Association Committee:
The Association Committee is elected by WEA English Regions and WEA Scotland. It acts in an advisory role to the Trustees, and is made up of one voluntary representative elected from each English Region and two elected from WEA Scotland. Three of its English members and one of its Scottish members are elected to act as Trustees; they remain on Association Committee while also acting as Trustees. The four National Officers serve on the Association Committee in addition to being WEA Trustees. Rosemary Mayes is also currently co-opted to the Association Committee.
