As an adult education provider and a charity whose mission is to tackle all forms of social disadvantage through adult education, the WEA has been involved in campaigning since 1903.
Our members, volunteers, tutors and staff are often managing local and national activities that promote the WEA and the value of adult education. This is particularly true of our volunteers, who are actively involved in running courses and supporting people in their learning, across the country.
Our campaigning is generally intended to raise awareness about the value of adult education to individuals and society. It is also about helping people to understand how they can have a say on local matters and contribute if they wish. If you want to support the WEA and adult education, why not become a WEA member. You'll receive regular information from us nationally and locally, including information on courses and campaigning. Membership is free and open to anyone who supports our aims and values.
