The WEA is committed to providing a welcoming environment where everyone is respected and valued, and can feel safe and secure. All learners and staff (including tutors, crèche and support workers, volunteers and trustees) are responsible for creating an environment that promotes well being and ensures personal safety.
The WEA recognises its particular responsibility to safeguard the wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults engaged in the range of its activities by ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place to provide a safe and secure environment and to deal with issues concerned with suspected or reported abuse of children and vulnerable adults. We issue all our tutors with information on safeguarding, you can read what we say to them here or using the link in the 'Related documents' box to the right.
Any issues or concerns should be reported via line managers or to the regional Designated Safeguarding contacts:
If the designated safeguarding person(s) in your region is unavailable, please contact Claire Illingworth (HR & Development Manager, contact details also in the table) or contact a Designated Safeguarding colleague in another region.
The WEA Safeguarding policy can be in our policies section on this website.
