National Women’s Education


Every WEA District across England and Scotland offers a wide range of courses and activities for women. Some of the courses provided in your local area are National WEA Women’s Education Programmes, which offer a chance to work for credits and progress onto other courses when you are ready.
These include:
  • The Women’s Learning Programme:
    covers a range of topics from Confidence Building and Assertiveness to Working on Maths with the opportunity to work on a group project.

  • Women and Domestic Violence Programme:
    offers two courses; ‘Understanding Domestic Violence’ and ‘Supporting Women Experiencing/Surviving Domestic Violence’ in partnership with Women’s Aid.

  • Women, Work and Society :
    two courses offered to women in their work place in partnership with UNISON.

  • Women and Personal Safety:
    two courses offering a basic training in self defence and a training course for those wishing to work as Self Defence Trainers in partnership with the National Women’s Self Defence Association.

  • Women and Health:
    a course which provides women with a comprehensive look at what health issues affect us and how we can take charge of our health.
