Our Workplace Programme
The Workplace Learning Programme addresses the learning needs of those in employment whether they are on permanent or temporary contracts, employed full-time or part-time, core staff or sub-contracted.
The Programme addresses the needs of employees in all sectors of the economy, including the voluntary sector.
The Programme is characterised by formal or informal partnership arrangements, including sponsorship. Most usually the WEA’s partners are individual trade unions or the TUC, and individual employers or groups of employers.
The development of the Unison / WEA partnership provides a thriving programme resulting in a comprehensive scheme to address NHS workers’ needs at differing and highly appropriate levels.
TUC programmes continue to be a significant proportion of provision. Successful partnerships were formed to link the WEA activity with other local colleges in West Cumbria and in Durham / Darlington.
Provision continues to reflect particularly the health and safety representatives’ course, with an increase in Union Learning Representatives courses and in IT related courses.
